OpenAI, a prominent artificial intelligence (AI) developer, has joined forces with Arizona State University (ASU), a leading research institution in the United States, in a groundbreaking collaboration. This partnership aims to implement ChatGPT Enterprise within the higher education sector, making ASU the first university to work closely with OpenAI on this initiative.
Starting in February, ASU’s faculty and staff will have the opportunity to submit proposals for innovative applications of ChatGPT Enterprise. This collaboration will focus on three primary areas: enhancing student success, exploring new avenues for cutting-edge research, and optimizing organizational processes.
Lev Gonick, ASU’s Chief Information Officer, highlighted that a significant portion of organizations are actively exploring the integration of AI. He emphasized that providing access to advanced AI tools levels the playing field, enabling individuals and organizations to harness AI for creative and innovative endeavors. ASU has already committed to exploring AI in various forms and established its AI Acceleration team in 2023, dedicated to creating the next generation of AI tools.
The collaboration with OpenAI is expected to empower ASU’s AI Acceleration team to develop new solutions and leverage the potential of generative AI. Gonick anticipates that 2024 will be a year for meaningful practice and exploration, harnessing the true power of this technology.
In addition to this collaboration, OpenAI is actively pursuing partnerships in 2024. It is exploring potential collaborations with prominent media giants such as CNN, Fox, and Time to secure news content licensing, signaling its growing presence in various domains.
