Artificial intelligence (AI) company Rabbit has refuted certain allegations made by YouTube investigator Stephen Findeisen, also known as “Coffeezilla,” asserting that the company has been transparent regarding its rebranding and transition into AI.
On May 22, Findeisen accused Rabbit of being involved in a nonfungible token (NFT) scam and attempting to conceal it. He highlighted the company’s rebranding from Cyber Manufacture to Rabbit, which he suggested went unnoticed. Findeisen also claimed that Rabbit AI’s founder and CEO, Jesse Lyu, made unfulfilled promises to supporters of the Gama NFT project.
In a statement to Cointelegraph, a Rabbit spokesperson clarified that Rabbit and the Gama project were distinct initiatives and ventures within the same company. They referenced a tech media article from 2023 that had previously disclosed Rabbit’s rebranding from Cyber Manufacturing.
Additionally, the spokesperson noted that a significant portion of Rabbit’s current employees joined after the rebranding, emphasizing that over 80% of the workforce came on board post-December 2023.
Regarding the Gama project, the spokesperson maintained that it had concluded upon being open-sourced. They disputed Findeisen’s allegations regarding transparency, stating that the project’s open-sourcing had investor support and that Lyu’s focus had shifted to AI hardware.
Addressing Findeisen’s critique of the Rabbit R1 AI product as “overhyped,” the spokesperson stated that the company receives use cases and feedback regularly. They claimed that 10,000 users of the product had generated over 600,000 interactions in the past month alone.
Furthermore, the spokesperson highlighted recent updates released in response to user feedback and announced plans for launching new features.
