Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella, has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the integration and expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) across its products and services. In his recent annual letter shared on LinkedIn on October 19, he detailed the company’s vision for the next generation of AI, mentioning that it will transform every software category and business model.
The company’s collaboration with OpenAI and the integration of AI Copilot into its web browser are among the prominent AI-focused initiatives undertaken by Microsoft in 2023. Nadella further explained the company’s plan to incorporate Copilot into all its popular products and even release a standalone app for it. He envisioned Copilot being used for a myriad of tasks ranging from shopping and coding to learning and creating.
Two significant advancements in AI were highlighted by Nadella. The first is natural language processing, which enables computers to interpret and understand text and speech in a way that is comparable to human cognition. The second is the development of a new reasoning engine, generative AI, which can answer queries, solve issues, and recognize images, enabling quicker and more insightful data interactions.
Microsoft’s AI Copilot is already a part of several services, including Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, and GitHub. However, Nadella did not specify the application of AI in Microsoft’s gaming division.
