Introduction of DePIN io.net: Recently launched decentralized physical infrastructure network io.net is incorporating Apple silicon chip hardware for its artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) services.
Io.net has developed a decentralized network based on the Solana blockchain, which aggregates graphics processing unit (GPU) computing power from various sources including geographically diverse data centers, cryptocurrency miners, and decentralized storage providers to support AI and ML computing.
The company announced the launch of its beta platform during the Solana Breakpoint conference in November 2023, coinciding with a partnership with Render Network. This partnership aims to enhance the capabilities of io.net’s platform for AI and ML applications.
Io.net’s latest upgrade positions it as the first cloud service to support Apple silicon chip clustering for machine learning applications. Engineers can now cluster Apple chips for ML and AI computing from anywhere worldwide.
Io.net utilizes Solana’s blockchain to facilitate payments to GPU and CPU computing providers. This enables low-cost GPU computing resources for AI and ML use cases while ensuring efficient and secure transactions.
Io.net users can now provide compute power from a range of Apple Silicon chips, including the M1, M1 Max, M1 Pro, M1 Ultra; M2, M2 Max, M2 Pro, M2 Ultra; and M3, M3 Max, and M3 Pro models. The M3 chips boast a 128-megabyte memory architecture and an enhanced neural engine, making them well-suited for AI and ML computing tasks.
According to io.net’s founder Ahmad Shadid, the integration of Apple chip support democratizes access to powerful computing resources, allowing millions of Apple product users to contribute spare chip and computing resources for AI and ML use cases.
The addition of Apple hardware support broadens the pool of available computing resources for AI and ML development, potentially accelerating advancements in these fields and fostering innovation.
Overall, io.net’s integration of Apple silicon chip hardware signifies a significant advancement in decentralized computing infrastructure, offering enhanced capabilities for AI and ML applications while leveraging the power of blockchain technology for efficient resource allocation and payment processing.
