Avalanche’s testnet has reportedly achieved over 140,000 transactions per second (TPS) during testing of its HyperSDK blockchain upgrade, a framework for building high-performance Virtual Machines (VMs) from scratch.
This performance far exceeds current TPS claims by Avalanche (4,500 TPS), Solana (2,000-3,000 TPS), and Ethereum (15-20 TPS).
However, Ava Labs’ head of product, Nick Mussallem, expects real-world throughput to eventually settle around 50,000 TPS. He emphasized that the upgrade does not sacrifice decentralization or security for scalability.
Blockchains built with HyperSDK will operate as subnets called HyperChains, which can be adapted for any function. Although HyperSDK is currently in early beta stages and not yet production-ready, the target for launch is by the end of the year.
