Ronin Network Surges Past Competitors with 2 Million Daily Active Users

The Ronin network, renowned for its focus on Web3 gaming, has recently achieved a significant milestone by surpassing well-known blockchain platforms in terms of daily active users (DAUs). On July 29, Ronin recorded a staggering 2 million DAUs, outpacing networks like Tron and Solana, which had 1.8 million and 1.2 million DAUs, respectively.

In an exclusive statement to Cointelegraph, Jeffrey Zirlin, co-founder of Sky Mavis—the team behind Ronin—provided an in-depth look at the factors driving this impressive growth. Zirlin attributed the surge to a combination of factors and shared how Ronin has solidified its position as a leading player in the Web3 gaming space.

The Power of Community and Gaming Innovation

Zirlin emphasized that in the world of Web3, where code is open-source and distribution is key, Ronin stands out due to its robust and engaged community. This “hardcore community,” cultivated over six years alongside the success of the popular play-to-earn game Axie Infinity, plays a crucial role in the network’s success.

Several recent developments have contributed to Ronin’s DAU surge:

• Wildforest and Lumiterra: The rise in activity can be attributed to Ronin-based games such as Wildforest, a player-versus-player game, and Lumiterra, an open-world survival crafting game.
• Pixels: The farming simulator Pixels also played a significant role. Following its migration to Ronin from Polygon in October 2023, Pixels experienced a dramatic increase in DAUs, soaring from 4,000 to 800,000. This substantial growth is linked to its latest Chapter 2 update.
• Axie Infinity’s Revival: Zirlin noted that Axie Infinity is also witnessing a resurgence. Active addresses for the game have surged from 12,000 in April to 60,000 in July, reflecting renewed interest and engagement.

A Focused Strategy on User Onboarding

Zirlin highlighted Ronin’s strategic focus on user onboarding and product launches. Unlike other blockchains that may concentrate on technical or theoretical aspects, Ronin prioritizes attracting gamers and converting them into Web3 users and advocates.

“This has created a gaming-centric ecosystem where 50% of all Ronin users are entirely new to Web3 technology, and 80% were onboarded through friends or family,” Zirlin explained.
