The team behind DeBank’s Rabby Wallet has confirmed reports of a fake version of the Rabby Wallet app causing havoc among users of the Apple App Store. As of Feb. 16, the official Rabby Wallet app is under review, indicating that any app currently listed on the store is fraudulent.
The fake app, titled “Rabby Wallet & Crypto Solution” by “Solution Development,” has been available on the App Store for at least four days. Despite numerous user reports, the imposter app remains accessible on the store.
Concerned users, including Reddit user u/manolodf, have raised alarms about the fraudulent app. Victims have reported losses totaling thousands of dollars due to the malicious app, with some seeking reimbursement from Apple.
Users who fell victim to the fake Rabby app reported losses of significant amounts, with one user losing $5,000 and another experiencing a 10% loss in their portfolio. NFT collector “bthemouth” reported having their wallets drained after the imposter app imported their seed phrase.
This is not the first time a fake Rabby wallet app has surfaced on the App Store, with similar incidents occurring in October and December 2023. Additionally, similar cases of fake cryptocurrency apps infiltrating app stores have been reported, including a fake Curve Finance app discovered in February 2024 and a fake Ledger Live app in November 2023.
The Rabby team and affected users are actively working to address the situation, emphasizing the need for increased vigilance and caution when downloading crypto-related apps from app stores.
