Shrem’s life took a dramatic turn in 2014 when he was arrested for his involvement in facilitating transactions linked to drug deals on the Silk Road marketplace. His guilty plea led to a prison sentence, an experience that profoundly changed him. His relationship with the Winklevoss twins deteriorated, and he became estranged from his parents, with whom he hasn’t spoken in over a decade.
