Satoshi Nakamoto may have disappeared more than 12 years ago, but two AI enthusiasts are looking to revive the possibility of communicating with the famous Bitcoin BTC ($26,959) creator.
On May 31, Bitcoin FilmFest co-ordinator Pierre Corbin and developer Hugo Ferrer launched “Talk2Satoshi,” an AI chatbot that aims to answer questions about Bitcoin and the economy as if they were from Nakamoto. The model, in essence, was trained by OpenAI’s ChatGPT on a small dataset, including Nakamoto’s public emails and forum posts.
It also draws inspiration from other sources including Saifedean Ammous’ book The Bitcoin Standard, Jeff Booth’s book The Price of Tomorrow and Corbin’s film The Great Reset and the Rise of Bitcoin as well as other sources along the way.
In tests, the chatbot produces uncertain responses about the future of fiat money and optimism about Bitcoin, although it can provide conflicting responses depending on how it is requested.
For example, when asked the various questions “What is the future of Bitcoin?” it elicited mixed responses saying it was both “promising” and “uncertain”.
The model is not trained in the latest Bitcoin developments, such as the legal framework or the BRC-20 symbol and usually responds by saying that it cannot provide an opinion on such topics. Depending on the question, however, this may produce conflicting answers regarding the ordinals and the BRC-20 score.
When asked about ordinals, he said that the answer to Bitcoin “is not for a platform for storing or transferring images or other types of data,” while another answer called Ordinals “is attractive interest in the creation of cryptography”.
According to Corbin, the purpose of the bot is to show that AI tools can be used in education. The model can generate qualified answers when asked questions about Bitcoin, such as how it works and how it works, and can define parts of the network as satoshis.
Looking like a real person, the bot impersonating Nakamoto is still reluctant to reveal his true identity and often replies:
“My real name doesn’t matter. What is important is the lack of power that Bitcoin represents and its ability to change the financial system.
