A simple blockchain game called Sui 8192 has caused a significant surge in daily transactions on the Sui Network, leading to speculation that it has surpassed Solana in network activity. Similar to the popular game 2048, Sui 8192 is a sliding tile game where players combine tiles until they reach a tile worth 8192. Each move in the game is recorded as a transaction on the Sui blockchain, requiring a gas fee payment.
The game was developed by Ethos Wallet, a Sui wallet provider, and serves as an example of how apps can evolve on the Sui blockchain. According to on-chain analytics provider Artemis, the Sui Network’s transaction count recently exceeded 20 million, surpassing Solana’s 16 million daily transactions. However, it should be noted that Artemis used a different methodology to calculate daily transactions for the Sui Network, counting transaction blocks instead of individual transactions.
Another initiative called Bullshark Quests by Mysten Labs has also contributed to the momentum on the Sui Network. Bullshark holders can participate in various Sui games, including Sui 8192, to compete for rewards in SUI tokens. The Sui Foundation has put up 5 million tokens as rewards for players.
Sui is a layer-1 blockchain that was launched in May 2023 and was initially touted as a potential “Solana killer.” However, it’s important to note that the comparison between the Sui Network and Solana in terms of daily transactions may not be directly comparable, as different methodologies were used.
Cointelegraph reached out to Solana for their perspective on the daily transaction data but did not receive an immediate response. At the time of writing, SUI token prices were down 0.5% at $0.678.
