Sorare seals partnership with the English Premier League to issue Ethereum-based digital player cards for its popular fantasy sports platform.
Blockchain-powered fantasy sports company Sorare has signed a deal with the English Premier League to get Ethereum-based digital playing cards on its platform.
Sorare has been driving the interest for Ethereum-based fantasy sports and digital card trading in recent years, giving fans the ability to mint, collect, and trade a variety of playing cards and other users and various non-fungible tokens (NFT) market.
Cointelegraph has contacted Sorare to clarify the details of their new deal that puts the Premier League in the hands of football fans. When the partnership was announced on January 30, a spokesperson for Sorare said that discussions between the group and the company had been ongoing for a long time.
Sorare began his move into the Premier League network in 2019, signing West Ham United as the first English club as his partner. Cointelegraph has learned that Link and Sorare have agreed to a four-year contract, and the value of the relationship is not specified in the terms of the contract.
The company’s spokesperson also explained the terms of the deal, where Sorare invests up front with the group for licensing rights. From there, the digital card market brings a percentage between Sorare and the Premier League.

The platform has long used the ERC-721 standard for its NFT playing cards, which can be collected and redeemed by fans and used to play free fantasy games on the platform. Premier League digital cards will be available for pre-purchase on Sorare before being available for purchase on compatible marketplaces such as OpenSea.
