OpenAI has introduced an enhanced version of GPT-4 Turbo, a model powering the ChatGPT conversational experience, offering more natural interactions. This upgrade, labeled “gpt-4-turbo-2024-04-09,” is accessible to premium users subscribed to ChatGPT Plus, Team, or Enterprise plans.
The latest iteration of GPT-4 Turbo includes improvements in writing, mathematical, logical reasoning, and coding abilities, along with an updated knowledge base. Trained on publicly available data up to December 2023, it provides more up-to-date responses compared to its predecessor, which was limited to material up to April 2023.
OpenAI claims that with the new GPT-4 Turbo, responses will be more concise, conversational, and less verbose, enhancing the overall conversational experience for users. However, this advancement may exacerbate the challenge of distinguishing between human and AI-generated content.
Paul Graham’s recent observation about the use of the word “delve” in an email sparked discussions about the potential impact on writers, particularly those for whom English is a second language. This update underscores the evolving dynamics between human and AI-generated content.
In addition to the GPT-4 Turbo update, OpenAI recently launched new models within its API, including GPT-4 Turbo with Vision, integrating image understanding capabilities.
OpenAI has made adjustments to its policy, eliminating the requirement for users to create accounts to access ChatGPT-3.5, making it more accessible. However, users without accounts will not have their interaction history stored.
