La Bitcoineta, a van promoting Bitcoin adoption, has faced some challenges during its journey through various countries.
During a border transition between Bosnia and Croatia, the van was stopped by officials who suspected smuggling due to its midnight crossing. However, after a search, the van was allowed to continue its trip.
The journey has also had positive experiences, with thumbs-up signs from strangers in Switzerland and support from crypto-friendly jurisdictions like Spain and Portugal.
The van has traveled through Spain, Gibraltar, Portugal, Andorra, Switzerland, Munich, Prague, Oslo, Romania, Serbia, and Lugano. It is set to continue towards Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, and Macedonia before heading to the United Kingdom, Madrid, Amsterdam, and Lugano.
The future plans for La Bitcoineta include longer trips to different countries, with the goal of interviewing Bitcoin advocates and gauging the level of Bitcoin adoption in each location. The van has gained attention and even birthed a meme featuring Bitcoin proponent Michael Saylor after he toured the van at a conference.
Signatures from influential Bitcoin figures adorn the van, serving as a testament to their support for the project.
