Kraken, a cryptocurrency exchange, has announced the official launch of its non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace, which has exited its beta phase. The NFT platform has expanded its collection from 70 to over 250, with plans to add more collections in the future. Additionally, Kraken has added support for the Polygon Network, allowing popular Reddit Collectible Avatars to be traded on the marketplace.
In the announcement, Kraken stated that it would not charge gas fees to users when buying or selling NFTs on the platform. However, it clarified that gas fees would still apply when transferring assets on and off the platform.
Meanwhile, in the midst of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) lawsuit against Coinbase, the crypto community has shown support for the exchange by minting “Stand with Crypto” NFTs and displaying shield badges on their Twitter profiles. The collection has gained significant traction, with over 142,000 mints and more than 52,000 owners.
In other news, the Bitcoin ecosystem project called New Bitcoin City aims to compete with Bitcoin Ordinals by offering smart contracts and larger file sizes. The project’s “Inscription Village” allows files exceeding 4 megabytes (MB) to be inscribed, surpassing the limit for Ordinals inscriptions.
Additionally, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, the band led by former Oasis member Noel Gallagher, is in a chart battle with the Foo Fighters for the top spot on the Official UK Album Charts. The NFTs provide a full audio playback of the album and a blockchain-based stamp of ownership.
