Mi Primer Bitcoin, a Bitcoin education initiative based in El Salvador, has recently unveiled its revamped Bitcoin Diploma program, featuring a new open-source approach.
Originally launched in 2021, Mi Primer Bitcoin coincided with El Salvador’s historic decision to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender, marking a significant milestone in the cryptocurrency world.
The updated program was developed collaboratively with Bitcoin educators worldwide, aiming to offer an extensive curriculum covering various facets of Bitcoin, ranging from its historical background to its technical intricacies and real-world applications.
A noteworthy aspect of the update is the program’s transition to an open-source model, making all educational materials, including the Student Workbook, freely accessible on GitHub. This shift is intended to encourage global collaboration and facilitate translation efforts.
John Dennehy, the founder and executive director of Mi Primer Bitcoin, emphasized the transformative impact of Bitcoin education on financial literacy. He highlighted how such education fosters creativity, innovation, and strategic planning in the Bitcoin era.
Dennehy described the curriculum update as a significant milestone in Mi Primer Bitcoin’s mission to empower individuals worldwide through Bitcoin education. He underscored the organization’s commitment to continuous improvement and enhanced accessibility, including streamlined translation efforts.
Since its inception, the program has reached beyond El Salvador, forging partnerships with educational institutions and governments globally. Notably, Mi Primer Bitcoin collaborated with the Ministry of Education of El Salvador to integrate Bitcoin into the public school curriculum by 2024.
In a testament to its expanding influence, Mi Primer Bitcoin has joined forces with Bitcoin Cuba to extend Bitcoin education initiatives to local communities, demonstrating its commitment to broadening access to cryptocurrency education beyond national borders.
